Man in wheelchair hit, killed in Henderson

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man in a wheelchair was hit and killed in Henderson early Sunday morning, according to police.

Around 3:50 a.m., Henderson police responded to the area of Lake Mead Parkway and Cornelius Kelly Avenue after a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.

Police said a Toyota SUV was driving westbound on Lake Mead Parkway when a 71-year-old man in a wheelchair outside of a marked crosswalk entered the road into northbound traffic.

The man was hit by the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
