Man arrested for teen’s overdose death in Cumberland County

LOWER ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) – Police in Cumberland County have arrested a man charged with the fatal overdose death of a teenager last year.

Lower Allen Township Police say on October 11 officers responded to the overdose of a 16-year-old boy who died despite life-saving measures. Police say a blood test resulted in a positive test for marijuana and fentanyl and a pill found at the scene contained fentanyl.

Police say Major Mahari Winfield Defreitas and the victim had discussed selling three blue pills and video showed the victim meeting someone driving a dark Nissan Murano the day before his death.

Police state that the arrest warrant on charges including drug delivery resulting in death for Defreitas was served on Friday, Feb. 16.
