Man tried to rob store with 5-foot snake, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was arrested after Memphis Police say he attempted to rob a gas station with a live snake Monday.

Reginald Cook, 26, is charged with two counts of Attempted Aggravated Robbery. His bond has been set to $4,000.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, Cook walked into Shell located on Elvis Presley and made a purchase.

About 30 minutes later, he went back to the store and demanded money from the register. The cashier thought Cook had a weapon because he kept reaching into his clothing.

After the cashier refused to open the register, Cook left.

The cashier called 911 and pulled out his own firearm. No money was taken and no one was injured.
