Man tried to rape woman at knifepoint inside NYC store, police say

EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man allegedly tried to rape a woman at knifepoint inside a store in East Harlem on Sunday, police said.

The incident happened near Madison Avenue and East 108th Street around noon, according to the NYPD.

The suspect allegedly went up to a woman in the store, threw her to the ground, then threatened her with a knife and tried to rape her, police said.

The suspect fled after allegedly stealing three cellphones and $1,000 from the store, according to police.

The suspect is believed to be between 25-30 years old. He is around 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, and has a slim build, short black hair and a short beard, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect, who hasn’t been identified or arrested.
