An ECSO Facebook post said deputies were called to a tire shop on East Nine Mile Road on Wednesday to investigate a vehicle theft.

Deputies began investigating and found that 34-year-old Wendell Deon Thompson had stolen a family member’s Cadillac Escalade earlier in the day, according to the post.

Thompson then allegedly rammed the stolen vehicle through a storage unit at the Hadji Shriners Temple, which damaged a tire.

The post said after damaging the tire, he took the Cadillac to the tire shop where he stole a black Jeep.

Deputies then located the Jeep at University Parkway and East Nine Mile Road, where Thompson ran from them, according to ECSO.

The post said deputies stopped the Jeep using a PIT maneuver, but Thompson refused to exit the vehicle. A Precision Immobilization Technique involves law enforcement forcing a vehicle to turn sideways, causing it to spin and stop.

Thompson was eventually arrested and charged with two counts of vehicle theft, fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer, fraud, and damage to property.
