Gene Holt, 66, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was jailed on $60,000 bond.

Police said Holt had been accused of stealing things by another man who lived at the home on Gaston. The victim knocked on the door of Holt’s room to confront him, but Holt answered the door holding a gun, so he left.

When the victim knocked on Holt’s door a second time, police say Holt stabbed the man in the back.
