Man shot in Coraopolis found at Speedway in McKees Rocks
A man was injured after a shooting in Coraopolis.
Allegheny County Police say officers received a call about a man with gunshot wounds at the Speedway on Island Avenue in McKees Rocks at around 12:16 p.m. on Saturday.
When police arrived they found a man was shot multiple times. He was taken to a hospital and is in critical but stable condition.
While investigating, police learned that the shooting happened on the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Coraopolis.
“It’s scary because it’s not safe out here anymore,” said Lexie Platt of Latrobe. “It’s like you can’t go anywhere.”
The shooting scene is eight miles away from the gas station. It’s unclear how the man ended up at the Speedway or what led to shots being fired.
“There’s so many questions,” Platt said. “You ask yourself why, how, when, where, who.”
Neighbors on Pennsylvania Avenue told Channel 11 the street is pretty quiet for the most part except for some arguing they hear from one of the apartment complexes.
Platt said she used to live in the area but moved to Westmoreland County a few years ago.
“That’s why I would never move out here again because it’s a lot; a lot happens out here,” she said. “It’s a shame. It’s really a shame, and I hope the man recovers soon.”
