Man seriously injured in rollover crash on I-84 in Tolland

A New York man suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash on Interstate 84 in Tolland on Monday morning, police said.

State troopers responded to I-84 East just ahead of Exit 69 in Tolland around 9:58 a.m. for a report of a vehicle that had rolled over, according to Connecticut State Police Troop C.

Police records show that 38-year-old Christopher Walters of Yonkers, New York, was driving his Hyundai Santa Fe in the left lane when he allegedly swerved right across three lanes of traffic, drove off the road and struck a tree, state police said.

Walters got out of the vehicle before police arrived on the scene and then was taken by emergency personnel from the Tolland Fire Department and LifeStar to Hartford Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, according to state police.
