ST. LOUIS – A man was sentenced to decades behind bars in the death of a St. Louis County cab driver who was fatally shot two years ago.

Trishawn Jones, 20, was sentenced to 22 years in prison in the death of Dewight Price, 54 on April 24, 2022.

Jones and three others, all teenagers at the time, have pleaded guilty to criminal charges, and two await sentencing. Coron Dees, Jeremiah Allen and Tywon Harris have also pleaded guilty to charges stemming from Price’s death.

According to court documents, the four stopped at a downtown gas station after leaving a party in Downtown St. Louis and called a cab around 5:30 a.m. They planned to take the taxi to a fake address near Allen’s home, then run away without paying.

After learning that they would have to prepay, they reportedly discussed plans to rob Price. They told Price to drive to Hazelwood Central High School, thinking there would be no witnesses there at that time. Dees and Jones then robbed Price at gunpoint.

Investigators say that Price begged the teens not to shoot and grabbed a firearm by his cab door moments later. Harris reportedly opened the door, which knocked Price to the ground. Then Jones reportedly fired one shot at Price, striking him in the torso.

Price and others in the group then ran away from the scene. Investigators say the cab driver was fatally shot.

Harris and Allen have yet to be sentenced in this case. Dees was sentenced to 17 years in prison in April.
