Man sentenced in connection with Del Valle homicide

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A man was sentenced April 9 on two charges in connection with a 2020 Del Valle homicide investigation.

According to Bastrop County court documents, Michael Heath was originally charged with first-degree murder, but the charge was reduced to the lesser offense of manslaughter, a second-degree felony.

He pleaded guilty to the manslaughter charge and unlawful possession of a firearm, a third-degree felony.

The charges were in connection with the May 24, 2020, death of Ambrosio Gonzales.

Heath was sentenced to 10 years for the unlawful possession charge and 18 years for the manslaughter charge. The sentences will run concurrently.

Toward his sentence, Heath has a jail credit of 1,348 days.
