Man sentenced to 60 years in prison for Nacogdoches County kidnapping

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KETK) — A man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison after being found guilty on Wednesday to a July 2022 kidnapping.

According to a release from the Nacogdoches County district attorney, Jesse William Preston Hayes was found guilty of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping on Wednesday.

Hayes was found guilty of assaulting a Nacogdoches man, holding him at knife point and stealing his phone, wallet and keys. The district attorney said Hayes forced the victim “into the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle, got into the driver’s seat and drove the vehicle to Austin.”

He then reportedly held the victim against his will for about 16 hours before going back to Nacogdoches and exiting the vehicle, letting the victim to escape.

The defendant will not be eligible for parole until he serves at least 30 years in prison.
