Man sentenced for 2019 Independence shooting, 2022 KC sexual assault

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri man is sentenced for a 2019 robbery and shooting in Independence as well as a sexual assault incident in 2022.

Sean Quinn Jr., 21, entered guilty pleas in the two criminal cases on Tuesday, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

He was charged in a May 2022 sexual assault of a woman at gunpoint in Kansas City. He pleaded guilty to first-degree sodomy, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Quinn also pleaded guilty in a second case in March 2019 when he was 16-years-old regarding a shooting in Independence that left the victim paralyzed from the waist down. Authorities certified him to be charged as an adult. He pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

Jackson County Judge Justine E. Del Muro sentenced Quinn to 27 years in the sex assault case and 22 years in the second case. The sentences are set to run concurrently.
