Man riding electric scooter hit by truck

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 46-year-old man was seriously injured on Wednesday after he was struck by a truck while riding an electric scooter through Kensington, according to San Diego police.

The crash occurred just after 10 a.m. nearby the intersection between El Cajon Boulevard and Fairmont Avenue.

According to SDPD, the man was traveling eastbound on the south sidewalk of El Cajon Boulevard when he entered the intersection against a red light and was struck by a GMC Penske truck headed southbound on Fairmont Avenue.

The scooter driver suffered a broken leg and was transported to a nearby hospital, SDPD said.

The driver of the truck, identified as a 67-year-old man, was not hurt.

An investigation by SDPD’s Traffic Division remains ongoing at this time. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact the Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
