Man rescued from Wilkes-Barre creek

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is hospitalized after he was rescued from a Wilkes-Barre creek Tuesday evening.

Officials tell 28/22 News Wilkes-Barre City authorities were called to the 800 block of South Main Street to rescue a man from Solomon Creek.

Wilkes-Barre City Fire Department Chief Mike Bilski says authorities were called at 6:23 p.m. after a man allegedly fell off his bike, ran from police into a creek, and was unable to get out.

Wet weather causes a late start to landscaping season

Crews were able to get the man into a basket and pulled him up the hill and out of the creek, according to Chief Bilski.

Bilski says crews cleared the scene at about 7:30 p.m. and the man was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley as a precautionary measure. There is no word on his condition at this time.
