UPDATE: Man reported dead from single-vehicle crash
May 13—BENTON — Daniel Alvarez who was hospitalized for injuries in a single-vehicle crash several days ago has passed, Elkhart County deputies say.
Elkhart County deputies reported that at 8:27 a.m. April 27, Alvarez, 54, of Elkhart, was traveling east on Old U.S. 33 in a 2004 GMC Sierra when for unknown reasons, his vehicle drove left of center and off the roadway, colliding with a large tree in the 29000 block of Old U.S. 33.
He was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital for his injuries. At 1:55 p.m. Thursday, May 9, Alvarez was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
