Man pleads guilty to manslaughter in connection to Huntsville killing

HUNTSVILLE, Ala (WHNT) — A man has pled guilty to manslaughter after being charged with murder in a charged in a 2022 shooting on Blue Springs Road.

Dominick Mclver pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges on April 12 in connection with the shooting death of Keydrick Davies Evans in 2022, according to court documents.

Evans’ remains were discovered in a shallow grave after investigators were called to an abandoned home on Blue Springs Road on July 22, 2022. McIver, who was 22 years old at the time, was arrested and charged with murder in the case along with Daniel Smallwood and Samantha Parker.

According to court documents, McIver was indicted for murder in October of 2023 in connection with the case.

The indictment said McIver intentionally caused Evans’ death by “shooting him in the head with a handgun.”

Court documents show McIver was sentenced to 20 years in prison split to serve three years, and after he leaves prison he will be placed on probation for five years. He will also be required to pay fines and restitution to his victims.

Smallwood is set to appear for a jury trial on June 24 while Parker is set for a trial on April 29.
