Man pleads guilty to double murder at Pickaway County mobile home park

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) – A man charged with two murders at a Pickaway County mobile home park has changed his plea.

According to Pickaway County Court of Common Pleas documents, 44-year-old Marty Dotson, of Orient, pleaded guilty to one count of murder and one count of voluntary manslaughter. Dotson was on trial for the murders of Craig Dewitt, 58, and Cory Moore, 22.

Dotson was arrested two days after Dewitt and Moore were found in a bedroom of a mobile home residence located on U.S. Route 62 near Ballah Road in Pickaway County. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office revealed that both victims died from multiple stab wounds.

Original charges included four counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, two counts of abuse of a corpse and one count of kidnapping.

A judge concluded in January that Dotson was competent to stand trial and a petition was filed on March 13 to enter a guilty plea.

Sentencing has not yet been scheduled, but Dotson could face a maximum prison sentence of life for murder and 11-to-16.5 years for voluntary manslaughter.
