Man on moped leads Salina police on 5-minute chase

SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) — A 51-year-old Salina man is in jail, facing numerous charges after allegedly leading an officer on a chase.

Salina Police say it began just before 10 p.m. Thursday when an officer tried to pull over the driver of a moped that didn’t have a working taillight. Police say the moped rider, who also had a passenger, refused to stop.

According to police, the chase lasted five minutes before the man finally stopped. The Salina Police Department said officers booked the man into jail on charges of possession of a firearm, narcotics and kidnapping because he refused to let his passenger get off of the moped during the chase.

No one was hurt.
