Man killed in Lotus Lounge shooting on Far East Side identified

Columbus police have identified the man who was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning at a bar on the Far East Side.

Police said 31-year-old Shawn Grooms, of North Linden, died after being shot Sunday at the Lotus Lounge, located at 6086 Channingway Blvd. off Brice Road, between East Livingston Avenue and Interstate 70.

Officers got called to the lounge around 1:40 a.m. Sunday on a report of a shooting after a fight. Grooms was found inside the bar with gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

A second, unidentified male who was shot was taken from the scene to a local hospital in a private vehicle, police said, and is reported in stable condition.

Police are asking anyone who may have been at the lounge, but left "in the initial panic following the shooting," to contact city homicide detectives at 614-645-4730, or call anonymously to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
