Man killed, juvenile wounded in Central City shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a shooting that left a man dead and a juvenile wounded in Central City on Saturday, April 27.

The NOPD reported officers responded to the intersection of Freret and Sixth streets around 4:47 p.m., where a man and a male juvenile had reportedly been shot at.

They were taken to a hospital by EMS, where the man later died. NOPD officials said the juvenile was last reported to be in stable condition.

According to the NOPD, the man and the juvenile were in a car when an unknown person began shooting at them.

The Orleans Parish coroner identified the deceased as 17-year-old Rickey Hamilton on Wednesday, May 1.
