Man killed in head-on Tangipahoa Parish crash

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Ponchatoula man dead in Tangipahoa Parish on Wednesday, April 10.

The LSP reported the crash happened on Louisiana Highway 22 near West Timberlane Drive around 10 a.m.

They said an initial investigation shows 59-year-old Andrew Monistere was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Camero west on Louisiana Highway 22 while a 2022 Chevrolet Camero and a 2022 Ford F-250 were driving east.

The 2014 Chevrolet Camero then reportedly crossed the center line and hit the Ford F-250 head-on.

LSP officials said the 2022 Chevrolet Camero drove off the road and into a ditch to avoid a collision.

Monistere suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the LSP, he was unrestrained at the time of the crash.

The driver of the 2022 Chevrolet Camero was restrained and uninjured.

The driver of the Ford F-250 suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing.
