Man killed in east Wichita shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A 35-year-old man was killed following a shooting in east Wichita early Monday. It happened on Douglas and Volutsia at around 2 a.m.

Wichita police in the area heard several gunshots fired, and when they arrived at the location, they found that a car had crashed into a building.

Inside that car, they found a man shot multiple times. His identity hasn’t been released. Police believe the shooting happened at a nearby business.

“It looks like it may have started or occurred in the Kwik Shop parking lot. Some type of possible disturbance that occurred in the Kwik Shop parking lot. The victim was in the car at the time, which then rolled across the street and crashed into the building,” Capt. Chad Beard, Wichita Police Department, said.

Driver pulled over for going over 120 mph in central Kansas

Public information officer Andrew Ford says the shooting does not appear to be random.

Police are looking for people who witnessed the shooting or anyone with surveillance video.
