Man injured in Niles drive-by shooting

NILES, Ill. — A man was injured in a drive-by shooting in Niles early Friday morning.

Officers responded to the 9200 block of North Maryland Street just after 12:15 a.m. on the report of a person shot.

Police believe a 49-year-old man was walking on a sidewalk when a dark-colored SUV pulled up.

A gunman inside fired shots at the man, striking him one in the buttocks. He was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

No one is in custody. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 847-588-6570.
