Man injured in Balboa Park hit-and-run

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run suspect after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Balboa Park Wednesday.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a 54-year-old man accompanied by woman were walking west in the westbound bicycle lane of Pershing Drive at B Street around 8:15 p.m.

At that time, an unidentified driver was traveling west in the westbound lane of Pershing Drive, police said. For unknown reasons, the driver reportedly drifted into the bicycle lane and struck the man before fleeing the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital to be treated for a collapsed lung, a skull fracture, a laceration to his lower lip, among other injuries.

Traffic Division officers responded to the scene and are investigating the hit-and-run. Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
