LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A man accused of providing a deadly dose of fentanyl to a 43-year-old was indicted in April by a Limestone County Grand Jury.

Talmadge Anthony Townson II, 39, of Falkville, was charged with felony murder and distribution of a controlled substance in connection to the death of 43-year-old Gregory Parks of Montgomery.

Townson was indicted on both of those charges on April 10, court documents show, along with manslaughter and first-degree robbery charges.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said around midnight on March 7, deputies and officers with Athens Police responded to Athens-Limestone Hospital where an unknown dead man, later identified as Parks, was taken.

The person who transported him to the hospital had none of his identifying info and advised hospital staff that they found him on the side of the road, according to LCSO.

Investigators identified a suspect vehicle and said they later located the vehicle at a known drug house on Huntsville Brownsferry Road.

At the house, LCSO said they detained ten individuals, and Townson was identified as a person of interest for Parks’s death. Investigators discovered Townson had given Parks a deadly dose of fentanyl and had taken action to cover up the crime.

“Upon the victim overdosing and becoming comatose, Townson used a knife to cut the pockets of the victim open to take his property. Investigators searched Townson’s vehicle and found the victim’s wallet and other property,” LCSO said.

Townson is being held in the Limestone County Jail, with a bond set at $100,000.
