Man in handcuffs escapes Illinois State Police trooper’s squad car in Chicago

CHICAGO — Illinois State Police troopers are looking for a man who escaped from a trooper’s squad car on Tuesday after being placed in handcuffs.

Around 3:30 p.m. on the Kennedy Expressway near Division, a trooper made a traffic stop and eventually arrested the driver and put him in handcuffs.

According to Illinois State Police, the driver was able to get out of the squad car and run away as the trooper was talking to other people in the car.

State police said troopers are still looking for the driver and there is no danger to the public.
