Man gunned down in north St. Louis neighborhood

ST. LOUIS – Homicide detectives with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting in the city’s Mark Twain neighborhood.

According to a police spokesperson, the shooting took place around 3:10 a.m. Tuesday in the 5000 block of Thekla Avenue.

Officers received word of a shooting near North Kingshighway Boulevard and Thekla. When they arrived in the area, they found Michael Taylor lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.

EMS arrived and pronounced Taylor dead at the scene. Taylor was 25.
