A Man With a Gun Blocked Off I-95 Causing Major Traffic
An armed man who was involved in a standoff with police officers on Interstate 95 near Richmond, Virginia on Wednesday has been taken away in an ambulance, according to local news reports.
More than 30 police vehicles had surrounded the man’s car Wednesday afternoon, shutting down the highway in both directions, as a SWAT team tried negotiating with the man, who was threatening to harm himself, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.
"We are trying to peacefully resolve this situation as we speak," Henrico Police Lt. Garrett said Wednesday afternoon, according to the Times-Dispatch.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Henrico Police said the incident had been resolved. "Normal traffic will be restored shortly,” the police department tweeted.

The standoff began when an officer approached a single-vehicle crash on the southbound side of the highway and encountered the man, who was threatening to harm himself with a handgun, local station WTVR reported.
Armored vehicles and a sniper were seen stationed around the scene before the standoff ended, and photos posted to social media appear to show stand-still traffic caused by the incident.
