Former Bond Girls Britt Ekland, Maud Adams and Barbara Bach Mourn 'Witty, Sophisticated' Roger Moore

More of Roger Moore’s onscreen vixens are paying tribute to the beloved 007 star in the wake of his death.

Britt Ekland – who was Bond girl Mary Goodnight to Moore’s 007 in 1974’s The Man with the Golden Gun – took to Twitter to mourn the 89-year-old actor on Tuesday.

“My Bond is gone, am filled with great sadness,” wrote Ekland, now 74. “Roger was the epitome of Bond, witty, sophisticated, elegant, funny. Rip.”

Moore, who died on Tuesday at age 89 after a battle with cancer, famously portrayed the fictional super spy in seven Bond films throughout the ’70s and ’80s.

Barbara Bach, who played opposite Moore in The Spy Who Loved Me as Anya Amasova, mourned the late star as well. “It was a pleasure working with Roger, he was a kind and good man. A true gentleman. Peace, love and condolences to his wife and family,” she said in a statement.

Maud Adams – who appeared in three of Moore’s Bond films, Octopussy, The Man with the Golden Gun and (briefly) A View to a Kill – told PEOPLE in a statement, “Sir Roger Moore was a beautiful human being inside and out and I will always remember him for his keen intellect, quick humor and deep caring for others.”

“It’s been a life blessing to have worked with and been a friend of his. I will miss him deeply,” she added.

Another one-time Bond girl, actress Jane Seymour, also shared her heartbreak online, writing on Instagram of Moore, “He was so funny, kind and thoughtful to everyone around him and in that Roger taught me what a movie star really was and should be.”

Moore’s three children – Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian – announced his death through a statement shared on Twitter Tuesday. The star died in Switzerland and will be laid to rest in a private funeral in Monaco.
