Man gets life for murder of Muskegon Heights school board member-elect

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — A man will spend life behind bars for the 2022 shooting death of a Muskegon Heights school board member-elect.

Glenn Anthony Davis, 62, was sentenced Thursday morning to life without parole.

A jury in January found Davis guilty of first-degree murder and weapons charges.

In December of 2022, Julius Muhammad was shot in his home and later died. The 53-year-old was known as a community activist and had recently been elected to the Muskegon Heights Board of Education.

He was remembered by a neighbor as “always giving encouraging words and being uplifting.”
