Man gets 5 life sentences for gruesome San Luis killings

(ALAMOSA COUNTY, Colo.) — A man who was convicted of the murders of five people in the San Luis Valley and for tampering with their bodies has received five consecutive life sentences, according to Alamosa County court documents.

Adre “Psycho” Baroz was arrested at a motel in New Mexico in November of 2020 following a nationwide manhunt. The manhunt came after the discovery of remains belonging to at least three people on two properties in the San Luis Valley.

Baroz was charged in the murders of Korina Arroyo, Myron Martinez, Shayla Hammel, Selena Esquibel, and Xavier Zeven Garcia. Arrest documents stated that some of the bodies had been dismembered or burned.

On Feb. 26, 2024, Baroz pleaded guilty to five counts of First Degree Murder, five counts of Tampering with a Deceased Human Body, First and Second Degree Assault, and Second Degree Kidnapping.

Baroz was sentenced on May 3, 2024, to five life sentences for the murders, 12 years for each count of Tampering with a Deceased Human Body, 32 years for each count of First Degree Assault and Kidnapping, and 16 years for the charge of Second Degree Assault, all of which are to be served consecutively.
