Man found in a St. Louis alley with a fatal gunshot wound to his eye

ST. LOUIS — Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot in an alley. Authorities are actively searching for information and have not yet identified any suspects.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the Carondelet neighborhood, where police were dispatched after receiving a report of a man lying in an alley in the 7300 block of Virginia Avenue. They found a 33-year-old man with a fatal gunshot wound to his eye. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The victim’s identity has not been released, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. This homicide marks at least the 58th in St. Louis this year, compared to 53 at the same time last year.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue to investigate.
