Man found shot to death in field near downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A death investigation is underway after a 29-year-old man was found shot to death just south of downtown early Friday morning.

His body was found in a field near the intersection of Lewis and Hart streets around 1 a.m.

According to Metro police, a passerby saw Darrius Bergeron approach the passenger side of a white SUV before shots were fired. Two SUVs then drove away toward Trimble Street.

Bergeron was pronounced dead at the scene.

No additional information was immediately released. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
