Horrison was originally charged with attempted murder after police responded to a shooting on Southeast 17th Street on Saturday, April 16, 2022, around 7:30 p.m.

When officers with the Sheffield Police Department (SPD) arrived, K’Vion Lamont Ruffin was already taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. He was later airlifted to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition.

SPD confirmed the victim passed away from his injuries the following Tuesday night, and Horrison had turned himself in around 1:30 p.m. that afternoon.

After Ruffin passed, the District Attorney’s office upgraded the charge to murder. Horrison was indicted in August 2022.
