Raymundo Flores was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice with no fine on March 1, 2024.

A report was made with law enforcement after a mother discovered her daughter lying with her genitals exposed, with a family member nearby in the living room in January 2020. After a forensic interview was completed with the Children’s Advocacy Center, an outcry of sexual abuse was made against Flores.

During the jury trial, which began on February 26 with 340th District Court Judge Jay Weatherby, both the victim and the mother were called to the stand to testify as witnesses, a press release from the District Attorney’s Office shared. Four witnesses were also called to testify on behalf of the defendant.

After a six-hour deliberation, the jury found Flores guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The jury then assessed the punishment, as the defendant elected.

District Attorney Allison Plamer shared thanks to the jury for their careful consideration in the case along with the law enforcement agencies and Detective Rebecca Stuart who assisted in the investigation.

“We applaud the young lady who had the strength and courage to take the stand and confront her perpetrator,” the office said in the release. “We hope that this verdict will help her in the healing process and she can move forward from this awful period in her life.”
