Man found dead on Antioch sidewalk, police investigating

(KRON) — Police are investigating an incident in which a man was found dead on a sidewalk on the morning of May 15, according to the Antioch Police Department. Officers responded at around 7:19 a.m. to the 2200 block of Country Hills Drive.

Contra Costa Fire had reported a man down on the sidewalk, possibly in need of medical attention. Officers arrived and found the man deceased. The cause of the death, police said, was unknown.

The Antioch PD Investigations Bureau, consisting of Crime Scene Investigators and detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit, took over the investigation. The cause of death is pending an autopsy result from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office.

Police are characterizing it as “suspicious.”

Antioch PD are asking for the public’s assistance. Anyone who might have driven through the area on the night of May 14 or the morning of May 15 with dashcam video is asked to contact Antioch PD.

The case is being actively investigated and police declined to release further information.
