Man fatally shot in parking lot of North Marion Middle School during awards ceremony

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was killed in a shooting in the parking lot of North Marion Middle School during an awards ceremony on Wednesday, according to officials.

The shooting involved two adults outside while students and parents were at an awards ceremony indoors, according to a spokesperson for Marion County Public Schools. No students were involved.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said a man was taken to a hospital after he was shot, where he later died. The other adult was taken into custody.

All remaining ceremonies for Wednesday have been canceled.

No other details were immediately available.
