Man fatally shot in the chest at Manhattan NYCHA complex: NYPD

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (PIX11) — A man was shot and killed Sunday night in the rear parking lot of the NYCHA building where he lived, according to police and law enforcement sources.

Authorities found Kenneth Taveras, 33, with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest in the back of the NYCHA Polo Grounds at 2971 Eighth Ave. in Washington Heights at around 10:35 p.m., accoridng to the NYPD and sources. Taveras was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.

Sources said a group of men was seen leaving the scene in a black pickup truck. There have been no arrests.

The investigation is ongoing.
