Man facing charges for cold case homicide in Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man will be heading to trial on charges for his alleged involvement in a 2016 Williamsport homicide investigation.

Back in September of 2023 Williamsport Police investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Dawud Rogers, 42, for the alleged homicide of William Blackwell.

On December 30, 2016, an investigation began after 31-year-old William Blackwell was shot and killed in the 200 block of Boyd Street in Williamsport.

Detectives were eventually led to Dawud Rogers, 42, of Allenwood, as a possible suspect in the shooting.

Rogers was brought to Lycoming County Court on the charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, and other related offenses.
