Man discovered dead of gunshot wound in burning car on I-85

Montgomery police are investigating after finding a 38-year-old man dead in a vehicle that was ablaze along I-85 early Thursday.

Montgomery officers and fire medics responded to the fire at about 12:05 a.m. to I-85 Southbound near Taylor Road. There, they found Joseph Turner, of Montgomery, in the vehicle, MPD Major Saba Coleman said. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Officials transported the body to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy, where they discovered a fatal gunshot wound. Police are investigating the death as a homicide, Coleman said.
