Man dies, two children airlifted to hospital after crash on Joseph Martin Highway in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police (VSP) says a man is dead, and three people including two toddlers have been hospitalized after a crash in Henry County on May 11.

The crash occurred around 7:10 p.m. on Joseph Martin Highway near Fisher Farm Road. State police said a 32-year-old was driving a Dodge Ram east on the highway when it crossed the center line and hit a 2005 Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan was identified as 52-year-old Gregory Lee Myers, from Martinsville. He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

According to state police, a 5-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy were passengers in the Dodge. Both children were airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Dodge was also taken to the hospital.

Their conditions are unknown at this time.

VSP confirmed Meyers was not wearing his seatbelt. We’re told both toddlers were properly secured in car seats.

The crash remains under investigation, and state police said charges are pending.
