Man dies, suspect arrested after east Bakersfield stabbing

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A suspect is in police custody after he allegedly stabbed a man early Tuesday morning, police said.

Police were called at about 2:15 a.m. to a report of a stabbing in the area of Butte and Tulare streets, according to a Bakersfield Police Department release. They found an injured man who was taken to Kern Medical and later pronounced dead, police said.

BPD detectives arrested Jeremy Roberts, 37, for murder charges. Roberts is due in court May 2.

Coroner’s officials will release the man’s name. An investigation is ongoing, police said.
