Man dies after being ejected from jet ski near Dunedin Causeway

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A 60-year-old man has died in a Saturday morning jet ski crash near the Dunedin Causeway.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the man was heading northbound towards the causeway on his 2017 Sea-Doo Personal Watercraft along the east side of Caladesi Island.

As he approached Hurricane Pass Channel, the jet ski hit the ground at a sandbar, where the man was ejected over the handlebars.

Deputies said the crash knocked him unconscious and caused facial trauma.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Officials said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
