Man dead after solo crash in Hanford, CHP says

HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man is dead following a crash in Hanford on Thursday where the driver lost control, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP says on May 9 at approximately 12:55 p.m., officers responded to the Hanford area and investigated a crash on the Grangeville Boulevard bypass north of Grangeville Boulevard.

According to CHP, during the course of the investigation, it was determined party one was driving his 2007 Ford southbound on Grangeville Boulevard at an unknown speed. The Ford traveled across the northbound lane of Grangeville Boulevard.

CHP says consequently, the left front tires traveled onto the dirt and grass shoulder. The driver was able to bring Ford back into the asphalt. However, the driver lost control of the vehicle as it traveled across the two-lane highway and onto a soft dirt area where the Ford overturned.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected, according to CHP.

CHP says the driver sustained injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The use of alcohol and or drugs has not been ruled out, CHP said.

This is an ongoing investigation.
