Man dead after shooting at East Texas apartment complex

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas (KETK) – The Mount Pleasant Police Department said a man was found with multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday night at an apartment building and was later pronounced dead.

According to a release, police were responding to a report of a woman being harassed at the Shadywood Apartments in Mount Pleasant around 9:55 p.m., when an officer discovered a man was shot lying outside of an apartment door.

The man, identified as Joshua Freeman, 41 of Longview, was taken to the Titus Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, Mount Pleasant PD said.

“The initial investigation revealed that Freeman and another male, who lived in the apartment, were involved in a physical altercation at the door to the apartment, whereupon Freeman was shot multiple times,” the police department said.

Mount Pleasant PD said no arrests have been made, but the other man, whose identity has not been released, was detained at the scene.
