Man dead, firefighter injured in Shawnee house fire

SHAWNEE, Okla. (KFOR) – Firefighters battled a fatal house fire in Shawnee Wednesday morning.

Officials say fire crews responded to a home near E Highland St. and Pennsylvania Ave. around 12:30 a.m. Heavy flames could be seen coming from the house.

Upon arrival, firefighters located one victim inside the home. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. An injured firefighter was also taken to the hospital.

The cause of this fire has not been determined as the investigation continues.
