Man dead, 3 others hurt after crash on Pinellas Bayway

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The St. Petersburg Police Department said an 89-year-old man died and three others were hurt after a crash on the Pinellas Bayway on Sunday.

Police said a Hyundai Tucson driver was on the Pinellas Bayway and trying to turn left onto Bahia Del Mar Boulevard South around 7:15 p.m. when she collided with a Toyota Corolla in the middle of the intersection.

The Hyundai then hit a Buick Enclave stopped at a stop sign on Bahia Del Mar Boulevard South, officers said.

Three people in the Hyundai, including the 89-year-old passenger, and the Toyota driver were taken to a hospital. The Buick driver was not hurt.

St. Pete police said the 89-year-old man, identified as Philip Rose of Nova Scotia, Canada, died at the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
