Man dead, 2 injured after single-vehicle crash in Dickson County

DICKSON, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man died and two others were injured following an early Tuesday morning crash in Dickson County.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the crash happened in the 1600 block of Highway 48 just before 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7.

Authorities reported 55-year-old Garry Smith was traveling on Highway 48 in a 2022 Chrysler Voyager when he “failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the roadside.”

Smith then traveled up an embankment and struck a tree, which caused the Chrysler to roll over, THP said.

According to a report provided by THP, Smith died in the crash. Meanwhile, his passengers –identified as a 51-year-old woman and 72-year-old woman — were both injured.

Officials said both women were wearing their seatbelts, but Smith was not. No additional information was released.
