Man charged with trespassing at multiple Nashville schools

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro police have arrested a man accused of trespassing at multiple schools in Nashville over the past year.

Centerius Bryant, 33, has been charged with trespassing after violating a warning on the campus of Vanderbilt University.

Bryant was taken into custody on Wednesday, April 24 for aggravated criminal trespassing after he was found in the Medical Center Research building on Vanderbilt’s campus.

Metro police said Bryant was issued a criminal trespass warning on May 29, 2023 from all Vanderbilt properties, excluding visits for medical treatments.

Bryant has outstanding warrants in Nashville, three of which were taken out by Vanderbilt University Police Department for aggravated criminal trespass and burglary, according to the arrest report.

According to police records, this isn’t Bryant’s first offense.

Metro police reported Bryant was seen on surveillance April 18 jumping over a fence at the University School of Nashville, while the school was closed.

Bryant was seen pulling on several door handles and windows with blue latex gloves on, according to the arrest warrant.

Bryant was charged with burglary after he was accused of stealing a pair of women’s pants, raincoat, jackets, and a backpack inside the school.

On April 16, Bryant was seen again on video surveillance at the Medical Research Facility on the campus of Vanderbilt University.

Bryant was seen by a faculty member smoking a cigarette and watching pornography on a university computer, according to the arrest warrant.

Metro police said Bryant’s actions has Vanderbilt employees concerned for their safety and placed them in fear.

Bryant is facing multiple charges including trespassing, burglary, and theft of property.
