Man charged with stabbing housemate in Edwardsville

EDWARDSVILLE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is facing aggravated assault charges after he allegedly stabbed his housemate over the weekend in Edwardsville.

According to the Edwardsville Police Department, officers were called to the 500 block of Main Street to a sober home in Edwardsville for a reported stabbing, on April 20 around 9:30 p.m.

Police say they learned the victim was walking into a room he shared with a man identified as 33-year-old Taylor McGoldrick when McGoldrick grabbed the victim from behind and the two began fighting.

Five businesses cited for liquor violations

The victim said he felt something hit the back of his neck and once the assault ended he noticed a small puncture wound on the back of his neck, as stated in the affidavit.

Officers say they arrested McGoldrick at gunpoint while he was walking on Main Street. Police stated McGoldrick was found to have a large kitchen knife in his waistband. McGoldrick told police he and the victim had bumped shoulders while passing each other and he “lost it” and began having a “psychosis episode,” according to court documents.

McGoldrick has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. He was held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on a $50,000 bail.
